You can make a homemade face mask with plain yogurt.

I love D.I.Y face masks. They are easy, cheap and all natural.

Yogurt does amazing things for the skin.

It contains lactic acid, which helps exfoliate away dead skin cells that can dull your complexion and helps to increase collagen production and diminish fine lines.

Yogurt also contains zinc, which is good for soothing and healing skin, and can reduce inflammation, which is great for sunburns.

After a yogurt facial mask, your skin will be hydrated, soft and smooth.

We used our homemade yogurt for these recipes. If you buy yogurt at the store, make sure it is plain with no added sugar and fillers.

I also recommend using raw honey if you have it, if not, regular will do.

A Yogurt Facial Mask

1 cup fresh chilled plain yogurt
1/2 cup oatmeal

Mix oatmeal into yogurt and gently rub into the skin. Leave on face for about 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

A Soothing Mask

The following mask would be great for soothing a sunburn.
Aloe Vera gel
1/2 of a cucumber
1 tbsp. full fat plain yogurt
Blend all ingredients in the blender adding enough Aloe Vera gel to create a creamy texture. Apply to face and let sit for 10-15 minutes and then wash clean with a warm wash cloth.

Radiant Skin Mask

1 tbsp. oatmeal, finely ground (I used my coffee grinder)
1 tbsp. live yogurt
1 tbsp. Brewers yeast
A few drops of honey
Okay, so this mask really did not smell so good, but it did leave my skin feeling so soft and fresh.
Add the yogurt to the oatmeal and yeast in a small bowl and mix together.

Warm a few drop of honey. To do this, warm a spoon under hot water for a minute, then add a few drops of honey to the spoon.

Stir the honey into the yogurt and oatmeal mixture.

Apply the mask to the face. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse off with several splashes of warm water. Follow with a warm washcloth.

Yogurt for Acne

This first recipe is really good for acne prone skin. It also has honey, which will moisturize, and cosmetic clay that will draw out the impurities of the skin. Yogurt also helps to kill the bacteria that can cause acne.
1 tbsp. comfrey (I found this at the health food store)
1 tsp. cosmetic clay
1 tsp. honey
1 tbsp low-fat yogurt
Grind the comfrey in your food processor or a coffee grinder until it is a fine powder. Place it in a bowl and mix in the honey and yogurt to make a spreadable paste. Leave on the skin for about 5-10 minutes.
Remove the yogurt acne treatment with a warm, wet washcloth. Follow up with a moisturizer.

Sometime when you have just a little bit of plain yogurt in fridge, rub it on to your skin and leave it on for about 10 minutes. This is very messy so you may need to do this while soaking in the tub or standing by the sink, but I think you will be surprised by the results!
